I sei setrieri che dividono Venezia sono simbolicamente rappresentati dai sei denti anteriori del ferro da gondola, la più tipica imbarcazione della città. Mentre, l'isola della Giudecca, viene rappresentata dal dente posteriore. La forma a S del ferro ricalca il percorso del Canal Grande e l'ampia "voluta" superiore indica insieme il Bacino San Marco e il Corno Ducale.
