 Jochen Arndt trained as a professional photographer in a photographic advertisement studio in Koblenz. Between 1995 and 1997 he lived and worked in Cologne as well as New York where he portrayed up and coming stars of the music scene. In 1999 he met MASAKO, a (half-) Japanese woman at a "GoSee". A "liaison" of a special kind developed between them – a platonic "amor fou" between a model and a photographer. Jochen highly appreciates her versatility, her acting talent and her naturalness in front of the camera. Over many years the two of them realised several photographic projects – just for fun; in this book the highly diverse outcome is published for the first time. Their lead-off project was already a great success: the pictures had to be retaken, only this time under the supervision of a paying client. Today MASAKO's face adorns many a highbrow advertising campaign all over Europe. In 2003 Jochen Arndt moved to Berlin. Represented by different European agencies, he has taken photographs for such magazines as COSMOPOLITAN, ELLE, GLAMOUR and MARIE CLAIRE in Barcelona, Cape Town and New York. The pictures of MASAKO, produced over a period of six years, reflect to a great degree Jochen Arndt's development into an internationally recognized fashion photographer. They are the result of different assignments for major advertisement agencies and widely published glossy magazine titles. As such they are considered important reflections of the newest, fast moving and sometimes almost bygone fashion trends of the new millennium. Jochen Arndt is always highly professional. From one second to the other he can become a human "camera obscura", playing with his viewers' emotions and sentiments. Seemingly private, hidden and unapparent feelings manifest themselves through his lens and are staged by his unique choreography. Jochen Arndt superbly masters the stylistic devices of photography: whether black and white or colour photographs, artificial or natural light – he knows his business and focuses on the important points. He also has a great understanding for his vis-à-vis and always presents his models to their best advantage.  Jochen Arndt si forma come fotografo professionista presso uno studio di fotografia pubblicitaria di Coblenza. Oggi è rappresentato da diverse agenzie europee e lavora per COSMOPOLITAN, ELLE, GLAMOUR, MARIE CLAIRE a Barcellona, Città del Capo e New York. Le immagini di MASAKO, nate nell'arco di sei anni, rispecchiano in modo significativo il percorso di Jochen Arndt fino a diventare un fotografo di moda attivo a livello internazionale. Sono il risultato di diversi briefing con importanti agenzie pubblicitarie e riviste patinate di grande tiratura e fungono allo stesso tempo da cartina al tornasole perle ultime, fugaci e quasi già obsolete tendenze della moda del secolo appena nato. Jochen Arndt è un professionista puro, che aziona un interruttore e diviene una "camera oscura umana", per giocare con le sensazioni e le emozioni degli osservatori. Ciò che è apparente privato, nascosto e latente viene reso pubblico grazie al suo obiettivo e messo in scena dall'apparato coreografico. Jochen Arndt sa servirsi come pochi degli strumenti stilistici offerti dal medium fotografico: che si tratti di immagini in bianco e nero o a colori, con illuminazione artificiale o con luce naturale, è evidente la sua profonda conoscenza della tecnica e l'abilità nel trasmettere concisamente il messaggio fondamentale. Ma al contempo sa entrare in sintonia con il suo soggetto, sa porre la persona di fronte all'obiettivo nella luce "giusta", ovvero più lusinghiera.
